Let’s celebrate day 45 of my third 92-day juice fast with a liver detox favorite of mine!
I’ve already extolled the virtues of beet juice as a powerful liver ally, and explained in great length why making your liver happy keeps you slim ‘n sexy. But I don’t mind repeating myself for a good cause. In my humble opinion, liver (and colon) cleansing is one of the keys to struggle-free and happily-ever-after weight loss.
With its liver cleansing (aka fat burning/metabolism boosting), blood cleansing, circulation enhancing and blood pressure lowering properties, the mighty beet really is an all around health and beauty queen (in French this marvel of nature is bestowed a feminine gender so I’m taking the liberty, especially since it’s a girl’s best friend 😉 My two top health heroes, Norman Walker and Dr. Jensen swear by it, and so do I.
I find pure beet juice (especially red) pretty hardcore so I never drink it straight. I love mixing it with apple, lemon and some ginger root for a little extra detox and immune system kick.
1/2 inch of ginger
Brush the beets with a veggie brush (or peel if your prefer)
Peel the ginger
Peel the lemon (if the lemon is organic you can juice the skin, it's super potent!)
Throw everything in your juicer and voilà!
