It’s day 65 of my third 92-Day juice fast! I’m now officially in the home stretch. Three is a charm as they say, cause this juice fast has been a smooth and easy ride. A couple days ago I had my first real bout of healing crisis. As I laid down in the grip of a cripplingly pounding migraine, I counted my blessings for not having had to endure anything of the sort over the last 60 days or so… and I actually felt quite grateful. At any rate, it’s all over now and I’m supercharged for the finishing line.
In my 40 day celebration post, I talked about the cyclical nature of detox and it’s truly a fascinating adventure. One of the main discoveries I’ve made on my raw food and juice fast journey is that the body knows best. It comes to us wired for optimum detox and has basically all the answers. So I make my primary job to pay close attention and get the hell out of the way 😉
During my first 92-day juice fast I started out with a combination of fruit and green juice. I really enjoyed these savory “soups” of mine, in the evenings especially. Then I progressively felt more drawn to fruit juices especially melon juice (watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew, etc) and ended up pretty much doing a “mono” melon juice fast in the last phase of the juice feast. During my second 92-day juice fast, green juice took center stage. I’d invested in a Breville juicer and making a gallon of tasty green juice a day became a breeze. And I totally loved it. On my third 92-day juice fast, I’ve been back in melon juice mode. But this time around I’ve been zeroing in on watermelon juice (combined with citrus) and it’s been insanely powerful in the detox department I must say. More recently though, I’ve found myself yearning for my greens again so looks like the last stretch is going to be a red and green juice tandem!
When I need my green juice fix, this is one of my fave go-to recipes. Swiss chard (not unlike spinach) is a fabulous health and all around beauty weapon. It’s kind of a given since it’s part of the mighty leafy green family. Zucchini is the magic ingredient! It gives any juice that scrumptious creamy consistency that makes green juice guzzling a gourmet-worthy delight. And the garlic and basil are my favorite final touch. They give the juice that tasty Italian flavor that’s simply irresistible.
Warning: Not your average hard-to-stomach green juice brew that will cause your taste buds to roar their disapproval. Give it a shot and you’ll see what I mean.

- 3 Zucchinis
- 3 Tomatoes
- 1 Lemon
- 1 Green onion
