Photographed at Glamping Hub‘s exotic beachfront Indonesian suites in Canggu Beach, Bali.
Within a short few days it will be two months since I embarked on my first journey through beautiful Southeast Asia.
Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most popular touristic destinations and it’s easy to see why. It boasts an amazing array of enchanting cultures, magnificent temples, stunning natural landscapes, mouth-watering cuisine and some of the most idyllic beaches. If, like me, you’re looking to enjoy the best this fascinating part of the world has to offer while dodging the crowds and immersing yourself in the local cultures in an authentic – non-touristy – way, glamping is an off-the-beaten path to exploring Southeast Asia that offers just that.
Glamping is arguably becoming the latest global travel phenom (with a super stylish Vogue feature to prove it) and options abound, but new travel start up Glamping Hub is taking this cool concept far beyond the typical eco-friendly tree house dwelling with a line up of truly unique experiences.
From residing in a museum boutique hotel amongst Indonesia’s largest private collection of sacred art to sailing away from the crowds on one of Thailand’s last unspoilt paradise islands, you will beat the winter blues with some truly memorable getaways.
For my first stay in Bali, I was treated to a spiritual-filled adventure amongst museum-worthy art from ancient Indonesian kingdoms. An incredible immersion in the heart and soul of Indonesian history and culture.
Glamping Hub’s exotic getaway nested on the shores of hip surf spot Canggu Beach in Southwest Bali, is a museum boutique hotel and the brainchild of one of Indonesia’s top art collectors on a mission to preserve and share the richness of Indonesia’s culture, art and traditions.
Your immersion into Balinese culture and the warmth of its people starts as you step foot on the Island of the Gods, your own private car and chauffeur awaiting you at the airport with a cool fragrant towel and assortment of tropical fruits to nibble on as your drive up the coastline to this magical getaway.
Upon your arrival, you’re announced with a gong and escorted to the welcoming lobby for a chance to unwind over refreshing tropical welcome drinks (the brilliant avocado and chocolate smoothie is an absolute must try).
Set on the first floor of a charming traditional thatched-roof Javanese house, the rich all-wood Rejang suite boasts a stunning hand-carved four-poster bed and assorted furniture hand-crafted by local Balinese artisans.
The attached dining room features surrounding wood paneled windows that boast breathtaking garden and sea views.
It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful and private breakfast.
I hardly ever wanted to step foot out of my serene abode.
Tea time is another wonderful opportunity to discover exotic local herbal infusions, tropical fruits and homemade delicacies.
After a relaxing walk through the lush tropical gardens, taking a dip in the beautiful fountain pool inspired by the holy springs at Bali’s Tirta Empul Temple is the perfect way to cool off.
Service with a smile. The trademark Balinese warmth and joie de vivre are highly contagious!
This is the first installment of a multipart feature of my getaway in Canggu Beach, Bali with Glamping Hub. Read part 2, part 3, part 4 and part 5.
