Take a walk on the wild side with Lee Jean Youn!
Wow, what an incredible collection and fabulous show. To tell you the truth as the lights came down, the evocative soundtrack filled the air and the first line up of models started languorously trickling down I was immediately transported to Paris. I wish I could share with you the hypnotic 360 experience of Lee Jean Young’s Fall 2014 show (the mood, the music, the feel of the textures as the models floated by) because it was absolute, pure magic. It came as no surprise to me to later learn that the Korean wonderkid has in fact been showing at Paris Haute Couture since 2010. His uber imaginative and singular vision combined with the exquisite theatricality of the presentation were rather hors-norme for a New York Fashion Week fare.
As you all know, I’m a statement kinda girl so with Lee Jean Youn, I was in for a treat. His play on volume, textures and colors is truly mind-blowing.
Must-haves? All the accessories. No kiddin’. The dangerously spiked heels and chokers. The lush leather and patchwork bags. The molded leather bras and harnesses and those whimsical felt and feathered cloches. Amazing. The huber textured woolens (coats and sweaters) are also to-die-for. And the draped and studded denim skirts and floor-length dresses… Nuff said.
Let me put it simply. I have a new Korean designer crush.
