Easy does it

Given the skyrocketing temperatures we’ve been graced with lately (Yay! I live for this. I’m the quintessential heat worshiper… It’s a tropical gene kinda thing), I’ve been inclined to show some leg and put my growing collection of tiny shorts to work.

For years (blame my European upbringing ;), shorts have been, for me, synonymous with fun, lazy summer holidays, but always with a tinge of being disapprovingly casual (read inappropriate) for anything other than a trip to the beach or a game of badminton with family and friends. I know… It now seems silly to the American girl I’ve become that stepping into a pair of shorts to grab dinner at a hip eatery or to step into a swank hotel would take me into style etiquette infraction territory. But it’s taken me a few years of SoCal living and soaking in the casual cool to consider that shorts could indeed be worthy of a dressed up attire 😉 And I have to say I’m taking a devilish liking to this trademark LA relaxed get-up.

For a Sunday night out, I edged things up a bit by styling a pair of black leather shorts with my fave Betsey Johnson leg-lengthening platform stilettos (looove them! wanna wear them with everything… see them worn with a gown here and here), and a play on metallic with Christian Roth mirrored sunglasses and a copper metallic clutch by German “it brand” George Gina & Lucy (aren’t their fun and colorful bags awesome?). A quicky mane tousle and off I go. Easy does it!
