I’m a big supporter of emerging African designers. As you know I’ve been proudly rocking fabulous designs by Ghanian-born designer Mimi Plange, who won the Designer of the Year award at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week South Africa. And I’ve also had on my radar talented South African designer David Tlale whose work I discovered recently and who is also a phenomenal new talent to watch.
I discovered Tlale’s sophisticated work last season during New York fashion week and was impressed by his polished presentation and oscar-worthy gowns. So I was definitely looking forward to the unveiling of his fall 2014 runway collection and I must say it is stunning. Exquisitely elegant. Confidently restrained. With a dash of deconstruction and gorgeous embellishments. There’s a timeless quality to his work that’s a true celebration of femininity. J’adore!
