When I received the invitation to team up with @Maybelline and @Refinery29 for the new Maybelline Color Elixir launch, I was quick to make up my mind. It’s no secret, I’m unapologetically partial to a bold, colorful lip (I mean, what could possibly be more alluring than a glossy, scarlet pout?). And with its hyper-saturated colors and beautifully evocative names that instantly ignite your imagination, this gorgeous line of glossy lip colors was the perfect canvas for a fab photographic collaboration.
When picking my favorite shade for @Maybelline‘s #MyLipMagic launch campaign, I had initially planned on zeroing in on the Signature Scarlet (after all, red is my lip color of predilection) but when I unwrapped the goodies sent to me, the lush shades of pink and fuchsia were so stunning that I had to feature them as well and ended up giving them equal camera time.
I could easily be called a glamourholic. There’s something utterly gratifying in creating beautiful, magical worlds. To feed my imagination, I find unending inspiration in the compelling imagery of visual masters of the past (from Dutch Golden Age painter Gerrit van Honthorst to Hollywood Golden Age photographer George Hurrell). There’s a spellbinding beauty and mystery to their work and exquisite play on light and shadow that’s a constant wonder to me. So unsurprisingly, capturing a bit of that intangible magic was our creative quest on this shoot.

I have always thought that fuchsia was sort of retro, lol. But it looks good on you! Will try it.
