In Old Phuket Town

Phuket is one of Southern Thailand‘s most touristic destinations, primarily known for its crowded beaches and wild parties. Not exactly on top of my list as a travel destination I confess (as you know I’m more into solitude, beautiful natural landscapes and powerful sacred sites). I’d set up a temporary camp base in town without much hope that I’d fall in love. The decision was solely logistical. All I was in for was easy access to international flights (for a quick exit to my next Southeast Asia destination), a good and reliable internet connection (to catch up on work and the usual business stuff) and produce aplenty (a raw vegan girl necessity). Well, I got all of these and more (seriously, take a look at these smiles!).

After settling down in Old Phuket Town, I headed without delay to the bustling local produce market for a little food gazing and a lot of fruit hoarding… And to my surprise was taken in by the town’s unexpected old-world charm and the warmth of its people.
