  • Interview: 11 International Fashion Bloggers

Let’s face it. Fashion isn’t foremost on our minds when thinking about making a positive impact on one’s life and the world. Safe to say that it’s commonly seen as a shallow endeavor, a guilty pleasure, at best a frivolous pursuit. But is it?

I’ve asked a hand-picked selection of international Fashion Bloggers, each one with a distinct style, voice and perspective, about the meaning and relevance of fashion in their lives and work. From Russia to India and Brazil to Indonesia, their answers all share common themes of empowerment, discovery and transformation.

So read on and glam up! Fashion may not be as skin deep as it seems.

BLOG: KIRA FASHION

Where are you originally from and where are you currently living?

Eu nasci na cidade mais bonita do Brasil, o Rio de Janeiro. Mas moro desde pequena em outra cidade que se iguala ao Rio em beleza e cultura, o Recife, também no Brasil.

I was born in Brazil’s most beautiful city, Rio de Janeiro. But I have since been living in another, small town (that is equally beautiful and cultured as Rio) Recife, in Brazil.

How has fashion changed or positively impacted your life?

A moda mudou minha vida completamente.

Fashion has changed my life completely. I always loved it and would devour magazines and fashion catalogs. It still is one of my favorite pastimes. But I never thought of having a fashion blog as a profession and that I could make it all possible. Fashion helped me become assured in my choices when it comes to the way I dress. I now feel safe when choosing an outfit for every occasion. That’s something that has very much become a part of my work with my clients and as a stylist in general.

What’s the message behind KIRA FASHION and how do you hope it’ll touch the lives of your readers?

The most important message of my blog, besides helping others with their fashion choices, is to discuss issues beyond fashion. You share experiences and reflect on questions and issues that we all experience wherever you live in this globalized world. After all, whether we live in Brazil, Europe or Japan we share more in common than we realize. We share the same joys and difficulties of living in a modern globalized world. By sharing in a genuine way my vision of the world, I hope to touch the many individuals who are going through experiences similar to mine.

I’ve been associated with fashion for a long time even though I didn’t realize that I actually liked fashion when I was a kid. Fashion blogger Muireann of Bangs And A Bun

BLOG: BANGS AND A BUN

Where are you originally from and where are you currently living?

I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada, grew up in Leeds and currently live in London.

How has fashion changed or positively impacted your life?

My mother had her own clothing line and shop when I was a kid, so fashion is something I grew up with. It’s always been something that has really bonded my mother and I. Throughout the years, I’ve found fashion (along with writing) to be one of my greatest forms of creative expression. I’ve always loved experimenting with style, I love to see others well dressed. I have a great appreciation for the art of a well made garment and I think this, in turn, makes me have an appreciation for other forms of art. In short, I think fashion, the freedom of expression it gives me, feeds my creativity.

What’s the overall message behind BANGS AND A BUN and how do you hope it’ll positively touch the lives of your readers?

The message behind Bangs And A Bun is that as women we’re allowed to have opinions and we’re allowed to be heard. It’s about being a strong, thoughtful, considerate, cultured, driven woman. I hope it’ll touch the lives of my readers, I hope they’ll feel a connection with me and take something from my experiences.

BLOG: OH MY BLOG!

Where are you originally from and where are you currently living?

I was born in Moscow, where I reside to this day.

How has fashion changed or positively impacted your life?

Fashion changes constantly! As a general rule, it circulates, each time bringing new details to the existing trend. I like that with fashion, changes and improves the choice in stores. Unlike now, around five years back it was very hard to find anything worthwhile.

What’s the message behind OH MY BLOG! and how do you hope it’ll touch the lives of your readers?

Before all else, I would like to disperse the myth that Russians don’t know how to dress well. :) Also, through fashion, I want to shine a light on many of the societal problems, share my sense of style and possibly, make some a little bit better.

Fashion has made me feel comfortable being a individual, I love experimenting with different trends and most importantly I love styling other individuals and making them feel better about themselves.

What’s the overall message behind FASHIONJAZZ and how do you hope it’ll positively touch the lives of your readers?

The message behind FashionJazz has changed quite a bit since it has started almost 3 years ago, originally I was just a personal style blogger, posting outfits that I wore daily along with giving styling advice to all my readers who wanted to know how I layer my clothes etc.

Since then FashionJazz has grown from a blog to a website which focuses on fashion news, reviews, events and trends in South Africa. Whilst my blog has become more personal and more about my daily style and my life in South Africa. I get so many readers emailing me from all over the world asking about fashion advice as well as advice on how to make a living as a blogger, so I try to inspire my readers by keeping my content positive and fun.

Nothing comes easy especially as a blogger, but if you work hard, network as much as you can and have a passion for what you do then you will always succeed, so put on those heels and get ready to take over the world.
